Virtual STEAM Events for Kids This April (Perfect for Rainy Days!)

If you’re looking for fun, educational activities your kids can enjoy from home, these virtual STEAM events are a great option. Whether your child is interested in nature, science, or hands-on creativity, April offers a variety of engaging online programs designed to spark curiosity.

Many of these events are part of the North Carolina Science Festival and feature programs from ecoExplore, a statewide initiative that encourages kids to explore nature while contributing to real scientific research.

🔬 What is ecoExplore?

ecoExplore (Experiences Promoting Learning Outdoors for Research and Education) is a free community science program for children in grades K–8, developed by the North Carolina Arboretum.

Participants can:

  • Explore nature in their own backyard or local park
  • Photograph plants and animals
  • Submit observations for scientists to review
  • Earn badges and prizes
