Happy Holidays!

A Publisher Letter from Shawn Hall

By Shawn Hall - Publisher of Greensboro Macaroni Kid December 12, 2019

Ahhhh the holidays! There’s nothing like the smell of cinnamon scented pine cones, a fresh Christmas tree and baked goodies from the oven. This is the time of the year where people begin to smile a bit more, say “thank you” a bit more and even let others cut them off or get in front of them with no blaring horns or dirty looks. No matter if it’s Christmas, Kwanzaa, Diwali, or Hanukkah, this time of the year allows people a time to reflect.

So many of us get caught up in the gift buying, gift giving and just STUFF. Remembering what matters most like actually decorating the house with the kids, baking and burning a few things and doing your favorite crazy dances at the family dance-off are the big things that you will always remember.

Instead of gifts, try creating and giving memories. In 25 years, no one will remember the Legos, the Vans, but they will definitely remember the time you made whipped cream from scratch, the ornament contest and of course the huge family breakfast or dinner.

And I know, someone is reading this and thinking, I don’t have any thing special that we do. Welp! Today is the day to start something you can hold on to. I’ve watched my girls grow up and every Christmas it gets harder to find something we all like BUT we can all agree to jump in the car and go around judging the neighborhood decorations. And if you find a little hold star on your door, you’ll know that the Halls were in your ‘hood and you earned our top honor! That’s not an easy thing to achieve but it’s OUR thing that we do, what’s yours?

No matter what you celebrate, enjoy your family and make the time count!

Happy Holidays!
